As the Jewish festival of Purim approaches, shluchim in Moldova are making the final preparations.

At a large bris milah ceremony at the Great Synagogue in Kishinev, the baby son of the Montan family, who are part of the local Chabad community, was circumcised. Present at the ceremony were members of the Jewish community, leaders of various Jewish organization, Israeli students, and many local students from the Moldova School of Medicine.

A joyful farbrengen was held at the Great Synagogue in Kishinev this week to celebrate the birthday of Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, Chabad emissary and Chief Rabbi of Moldova. Dozens of leaders of the Jewish community and various Jewish organizations joined together with friends and supporters of Chabad to take part in the birthday gathering.

Boris Yakirevitch, a member of the Jewish community in Kishinev, the capital of Moldova, has celebrated his eightieth birthday.

Israeli students at the university in Moldova attended a Purim Koton event organized by Chabad Students, a new initiative catering to the Jewish students studying in Moldova.

The Manger City Library in Kishinev, capital of Moldova, recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary with a special evening to which the leaders of various Jewish organizations and members of the Jewish community were invited.
The guest of honor was Rabbi Zalman Abelsky, Chabad emissary and Chief Rabbi of Moldova, who has revived the Jewish community after many years of destruction and obscurity.

Another International Holocaust Memorial Day event was held at the Kedem Jewish Center in Kishinev.
Special skullcaps were distributed to the participants, after which the Kaddish memorial prayer was recited by a representative of Chabad emissary and Chief Rabbi of Moldova Rabbi Zalman Abelsky. Afterwards, Rabbi Abelsky spoke about the importance of observing the Torah and its commandments in bringing the Messiah.
