Friday at Game City was filled with the special atmosphere of preparing for Shabbat.
The children lovingly baked fragrant challah and then took part in a Kabbalat Shabbat programme. Together they reviewed the traditions of this holy day: lighting Shabbat candles, making Kiddush over grape juice and experiencing the warmth, unity and family feeling that Shabbat brings.
Another eagerly awaited highlight was the camp shop. Throughout the week, campers earned play money by completing challenges, joining competitions and demonstrating their best qualities. Each child could now exchange those earnings for a gift and choose a favourite surprise.
The programme concluded with a special “Shabbat Mafia” game in which goodness, friendship and Shabbat emerged victorious. In this way, the first full week of Gan Israel came to an end — a week of discovery, joy, new knowledge and genuine friendship.
