Preparing for Rosh Hashanah in Bălți and Drochia

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, Chief Rabbi Menachem Mendel Axelrod visited the Jewish community in Bălți, where dozens gathered in the synagogue for a moving pre-holiday gathering.

Together, they put on tefillin, heard the shofar, and listened to a chassidic message about the deep meaning of Rosh Hashanah. Around a festive table, they raised a l’chaim in honor of the new year and wished one another a good and sweet year — a year of redemption and salvation with the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach.

In keeping with the customs of the month of Elul, Rabbi Axelrod then continued to the homes of Jewish families in Bălți — and also in nearby Drochia, just a 40-minute drive away — to check mezuzahs and affix new ones.

The Jewish residents warmly thanked Rabbi Axelrod for his visit and for the heartfelt connection he maintains with the community throughout the year.

May we all be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year!
