At the initiative of Mr Alexander Bilinkis, Chairman of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, a significant collection of 280 books was donated to the Chabad Lubavitch Synagogue in Kishinev.
The collection includes religious, children’s, and educational books dedicated to Jewish history, tradition, culture, and spiritual heritage. The books have been added to the synagogue library and are now available to the community.
The Jewish people are often called “the People of the Book”. Throughout the generations, books, learning, and the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next have played a central role in preserving Jewish identity, spirituality, and the connection between Jewish communities around the world.
Initiatives of this kind are especially important for the development of communal and spiritual life. They create opportunities for learning, help children and young people connect with their roots, and enable adults to preserve and pass on Jewish tradition.
The donation of these books is another meaningful step in strengthening Jewish education, encouraging a culture of reading, and enriching the spiritual life of the community.
