This year, Purim was celebrated across Moldova in a special atmosphere of unity, warmth, and Jewish joy, reaching many cities and bringing together diverse communities.
The holiday was marked by outreach and personal visits. Rabbi Mendel Axelrod travelled to Balti to personally ensure that every Jew could experience a joyful and meaningful Purim. At the same time, the Rebbe’s shluchim, the Gotsel family, visited Tiraspol to celebrate with the local Jewish community and fulfil the mitzvot of the day together.
During the visit in Tiraspol, community members gathered to hear the reading of the Megillah in a warm and moving atmosphere. Participants celebrated with costumes, groggers, and genuine joy. Mishloach manot and gifts were distributed, creating a strong sense of unity and Jewish warmth.
In Chisinau, a festive Purim meal — one of the four mitzvot of the day — was held in a joyful and family-like atmosphere. Participants enjoyed a rich meal, singing, and shared celebration, expressing appreciation to everyone who took part.
The younger generation also played an important role in the celebrations. In the kindergarten, a colourful Purim event was held: children came dressed in beautiful costumes, proudly presented them, exchanged treats, enjoyed games, and took part in a fun performance.
From community gatherings in major cities to educational celebrations for children, Purim in Moldova became a festival of spreading joy — connecting people, communities, and generations with a spirit of unity and vibrant Jewish life.
